Poised by the economic impacts developed by the creation of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry in 1985, the Chamber was founded in 1987 under the leadership of a group of visionary businessmen who wanted to have their interests represented.

Services Provided by the Chamber
Managed by staff and directed by a 16-member elected Board of Directors, the Chamber provides the following services:

• Advocating for Major Transportation Projects in Otay Mesa impacting the Border Community
• Providing Useful Information for Regional Businesses
• Creating Business Opportunities through Networking Opportunities and Special Programs
• Ensuring a Safe and Sound Environment for Businesses in Otay Mesa

Accomplishments
The Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce leadership, in partnership with other regional organizations, government agencies and elected officials, has been very successful in spearheading efforts to secure essential transportation projects in Otay Mesa. Accomplishments include securing funding for 1) State Route-905 2) the Otay Mesa Road Widening 3) a public transportation system in Otay Mesa, and securing the required permits for State Route-125, among many other projects.
