The State of Baja California has confirmed their priorities in terms of re-opening manufacturing plants. Initially, all except essential plants were closed but detailed guidelines as to what essential meant was lacking. Later Mexico clarified, they meant, essential for Mexico. A few days/weeks later it meant essential for Mexico’s supply chain and now it means essential for North American supply chains. The main priority continues to be that these plants re-open with the sanitary guidelines that will allow workers to be safe. Just today, 20 plants are expected to resume activities. This is good news for our Cali-Baja region and a lesson learned, so we will be prepared next time around.
