COVID Vaccination Clinics
The Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce was the first business organization in the County to spearhead clinics with the County of San Diego and UC San Diego Health in different business settings. Otay Mesa’s workforce is mostly deemed essential and for the vast majority it is very difficult to work remotely (i.e. truck drivers, production line workers, warehouse employees). After the Chamber’s vaccination clinics, COVID rates dramatically diminished. Mexican truck drivers were all vaccinated in this effort so when the DHS vaccine mandate for foreign essential workers took place in January 2022, Otay Mesa was covered.
