Grant Opportunity for On-Road Trucks! Act Fast!

The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District (District) is accepting applications between July 5 - 22, 2022, from owners and operators of heavy-duty diesel trucks through the Prop 1B Goods Movement Emission Reduction Program (GMERP). Approximately $1.6 million is available for this program, but applicants must act fast!

The grants are provided by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and will be administered by the District for the replacement of qualifying existing heavy-duty on road trucks used for goods movement. Class 7 and 8 trucks with engines with 2007-2009 engine model years that move goods for sale in the San Diego/Imperial County region may be eligible for grants from $65,000 to $200,000. Class 5 and 6 trucks with 1998-2009 engines may be eligible for $25,000 to $100,000. Replacement trucks must be hybrid, low NOx natural gas, or electric to qualify, with zero-emission trucks receiving priority for funding.

The District will accept applications from Monday, July 5th through Friday, July 22nd, 2022 at 5:00 P.M. All applications will be evaluated as they are received, using criteria established by the California Air Resources Board, such as emission reductions in environmental justice communities, total emission reductions, and cost effectiveness. We encourage applicants to submit applications as early as possible to minimize delays in grant approvals.

Applications may be submitted through the County’s online Citizen Access system -https://publicservices.sandiegocounty.gov/CitizenAccess/.

Paper applications, fax, email, and incomplete submittals will not be accepted. The District staff are available to help applicants use the online application system by appointment during the application period. Please contact the District at (858) 586-2600 or cleanairgrants@sdapcd.org if you have questions about the program, to request assistance with the online application process, or have a project that does not fit into the online application categories.
